Strap In With Blossom

Nov 5, 2012 4:37:28 PM

Remember how we discussed the cocktail dress a few days ago? Well with a cocktail dress needs to come a great pair of shoes. Those shoes need to be worthy of the woman’s foot and keep her looking fabulous all night. They must make heads turn, and speak volumes all on their own. The shoe completes the outfit and without it, that amazing cocktail dress would just not stand on its own. This is why we have the strappy sandal. The shoe that is so incredible sexy, it needs no introduction and can even sometimes be worn completely alone. A shoe like this appeals to women and men of generations. They make the women feel her most fabulous and make the man appreciate the beauty that his lady has within when she wears a fabulous pair of strappy sandals. According to “Women from the Ankle Down: The Story of Shoes and How They Define Us” by Rachelle Bergstein the history of the shoe is the story of the woman’s foot. She tells us how the tale of the shoes began in a small village in Bonito, Italy in 1907 when one Salvatore Ferragamo began as a little boy with a desire to be a shoemaker even though his father told him it was a job that was frowned upon and the story ends with a fictional character named Carrie Bradshaw made famous because of the hit HBO T.V. series, Sex and the City. The timeline of Carries Bradshaw’s shoes is one that put every major shoemaker on the market hence increasing their success and taking the fashion world onto one incredible ride.

Cocktail dresses galore!

Oct 27, 2012 10:52:30 AM

The little dress; no, not the little black dress, just the little cocktail dress. It’s a staple piece in every woman’s wardrobe; the little dress we utilize for semi-formal events, weddings, day parties, birthday parties, and everything in between is here at Ladies Outfitters. The cocktail dress that we know today used to be very different from what it has become. The cocktail dress was born after the years following World War I, this change led to the “modern woman” that began to mingle in clubs, lounges, and private cocktail soirees according to ecosalon.com. The length of the cocktail dress used to long, as in touching your ankle long a.k.a. tea length or almost touching the ankle or ballerina length. A dress that was much shorter than that was only appropriate for semi-formal occasions prior to the 20th century, for women this was called the “late afternoon” dress. The garment started to be defined by how lavish it was than by what the length was. The short, tight fitting, and elaborately embellished cocktail dresses became THE costume for all women. The Cut by NYmag.com had a feature on the cocktail dress tracing back its history from the twenties to Audrey Hepburn, and all the way to more recent looks all through a book, The Cocktail Dress devoted to the incredible piece written by Style.com’s Laird Borrelli-Persson. Take a look below at some of the outstanding moments in history the cocktail dress has had.

Red Sole Means Happy Soul

Oct 5, 2012 3:50:11 PM

The red sole…

No emphasis needed. It is the staple sole color of our generation and generations to come. The shoe with the red sole is the shoe that is followed, adored, coveted, and NEEDED by any women who has a desire for shoes (that may just be all of us.) There is one man, one legend who created the red sole and made it into a masterpiece, not just another piece of footwear you own. Christian Louboutin had a fascination for shoes starting from his early teens till now. Louboutin was so fascinated by shoes that he used to sneak out of school and watch showgirls perform on the streets of Paris. He made an observation that women look at their legs in silhouettes; this was the beginning of the spark that led him to drop out of school and begin his journey in shoe design. After some many trips around the world studying performers and working under designers such as Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent, he launched his own self named shoe atelier in the late 1990’s known to us as Christian Louboutin.
